Destination Sankarpur-Part 2

I know you have waited a long time for this. So please forgive me this time. Actually the problem is that I didn’t want to remember that ugly day. Every time I go through my memories it was bad, worse, worst. But I had requested several times to complete my travel log so I came back again to tell you that.

Destination Shankarpur (Part 1)

Destination Shankarpur :

The Team

Bang bang bang…………
Several knocks wake me up from my sleep. The irritating sound just kicked in my head and said “Get up boy, new day begins”. I’m trying to realize where I am and what happened outside? I opened my eyes and found a white blanket restrict my view. I pulled down it, found myself in a room where all windows and door were close.
Bang bang bang…………
Again the door knocked, this time harder. I realized that I need to open it now or the door would be damaged. Opened the door and found Jeet da stand next to me. He told me to get ready within 9 am.
Our journey started at 4.30 am on 22th of July, 2010. We all gathered nearly at a same time to our starting point. After solving few problems regarding our bags we started our journey. Our 1st official stop is at KolaghaT. Nearly at 8 am. After spending nearly 45 min we again on our way. The road is not good at all. The works went on for last couple of years and still going on. The road is diverted several times. All forced to drive on a single lane. The main problem was created by the SBSTC & CSTC buses. They drive such a way sometimes we forced to leave the road and drove off-road. It happened several times, but we manage to survive on that condition.
After crossing Mondarmoni we took a left turn from “14 MILE”. This road is great; sometimes you feel that instead of road you are floating on sea. Because the road is wavy, and also in good condition.
From here we heard the sound of the sea. And thanks God that our hotel is just next to the beach; so what we just stand our bikes left our bags in hotel room and go to the sea shore.
What next? That’s another story, I must tell you some day.

Shantiniketan (West Bengal),The place of Culture

The beautiful  (শান্তিনিকেতন )Shantiniketan

শান্তিনিকেতন in the Birbhum District is a land of red soil with lush green paddy fields. The main attraction of this place remains because of its association with Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941), one of Bengal’s greatest figures. Of course the natural charm of Santiniketan is a major draw in itself. Nature has bestowed her splendour through the lavish greenery everywhere. Truly as the name suggested by Maharshi Debendranath Tagore (RabindranathaTagore’s father) it is the ‘abode of peace’. Home at Santiniketan would surely mean a peaceful residential neighbourhood amidst the natural beauty all around. Santiniketan is also home to Amartya Sen, the 1998 Nobel Prize winner in Economics.

Caravan at Azad Hind Dhaba on 18.04.2010

Highway meet organized by Caravan. Started at 6 AM; it was pretty cool… but the hot sun soon took on us real bad. Things got real worse due to the heat when we were returning at 11… Had a nice time there with all folks who joined in.
